This course aims to provide the knowledge and practical experience in flooring and materials used in the Contract Flooring industry (in hospitals, schools, restaurants, offices and shopping centres).

Prior Knowledge
No prior knowledge is required. This course also can help upskill tradespeople who already have a knowledge of domestic carpets. This course is designed for those who are currently unemployed, those interested in re-entering the workforce or those considering a career change. Learners must be over 18.

Cost
This course is fully funded by the European Social Fund (ESF). All tuition, equipment and courseware is provided at no cost. Learners who are currently receiving a social welfare payment typically receive a training allowance during the course of the same amount.

Course Modules
Upon completion of the course, learners will have:

Have knowledge, skill and confidence to install Floor Preparation, contract carpets, carpet tiles, LVT Tiles, Safety Vinyl, Marmoleum, smooth vinyl, caping & coving

Able to give a written quotation to potential customers to supply and fit all materials required

Able to convert meters to square yards and vice versa

Able to test floors for moisture

Able to calculate quantity of products required for any given job

Able to install internal and external corners

Able to use a power stretcher

Have a good knowledge of Health & Safety requirements in the workplace

Have the knowledge of how to weld and grove vinyl

Have the knowledge hot to join two pieces of carpet

Know how to install a carpet on a stairs and bullnose
