This course is only available to those currently in employment and fully funded under the Skills to Advance initiative. 

 

Skills to Advance is a national initiative that provides upskilling and reskilling opportunities to employees in jobs undergoing change and to those currently employed in vulnerable sectors. Skills to Advance aims to equip employees with the skills they need to progress in their current role or to adapt to the changing job market. Working closely with small and medium-sized enterprises, Skills to Advance helps employers identify skills needs and invest in their workforce by providing subsidised education and training to staff.

Know how to lead a remote working team

  • Explain the role of trust in remote working

  • Describe how to develop trust when managing remote workers

  • Explain the role and nature of motivation when managing remote workers

  • Describe how to give effective feedback to remote workers

  • Developments in flexible working practices

  • The business case for remote working - costs and benefits

  • Selecting the right people for remote working – nature of the job role, personal characteristics, availability of technical resources and suitable working environments

  • Managing people remotely – communication, trust, motivating, creating a sense of belonging, skills development

  • Developing skills for remote working – time management , planning and prioritising work, problem solving and decision making, IT

  • Health and safety in relation to remote working

50 Shades Greener Program: 

KWETB leads the "50 Shades Greener" program, Ireland's first state-funded training initiative designed to 'green' the Hospitality and Tourism industry. This program provides businesses with the knowledge and skills to implement environmental management systems, focusing on energy reduction, waste production, and water conservation. Participating businesses have reported significant cost savings of approximately 30% per annum on energy usage and waste costs.

Environmental Sustainability Courses:

KWETB offers accredited courses to enhance environmental awareness and sustainable practices in the workplace:

  • QQI Level 4 Environmental Sustainability Awareness: This course aims to increase understanding of environmental sustainability principles among participants.

  • QQI Level 5 Environmental Sustainability in the Workplace: Designed to equip learners with the skills to implement sustainable practices that reduce carbon footprints and save costs in their workplaces.

Green Business Programme & Green Manager Programme: 

KWETB leads the Green Business Programme and Green Manager Programme, which are part of the "50 Shades Greener" initiative. These programs aim to 'green' the Hospitality & Tourism industry and reduce Ireland's carbon footprint.

Integration of Sustainability in Education:

In collaboration with SOLAS, KWETB has developed online modules for schools to enhance understanding of sustainability and educate students on minimizing their carbon footprints.

Strategic Planning:

KWETB's Service Plan 2023 outlines its dedication to the green agenda in Further Education and Training (FET) through the development, delivery, and evaluation of sustainability initiatives. The plan emphasizes improving energy performance in schools and education centres, aligning with best practices and guidelines.

Through these comprehensive efforts, KWETB actively promotes environmental sustainability, aiming to reduce carbon footprints and foster green practices across various sectors.
